I’m Temitope Akinboyewa. I’m currently pursuing my Ph.D. in Geography at Penn State University. Before joining Penn State, I earned a master’s degree in Surveying and Geoinformatics (with specialties in GIS and remote sensing), from the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), Nigeria. My master’s research focuses on the application of deep learning methods for feature extraction from high-resolution imagery. I also earned my bachelor’s degree in Surveying and Geoinformatics in 2019 from the same institution.
My research interests are mostly in the use of GIScience, Remote sensing, and big data analytics in public health management. My Ph.D. research shall focus more on the development of innovative and data-driven methodologies to address public health challenges. I’m also interested in understanding changes in the environment and their impact on human health, through combining remote sensing techniques, big data, machine learning, and spatial computing.
